The Yucatan Peninsula features several nature reserves and ecological sites for the visitor who wants the experience of seeing the many varieties of flora and fauna in their natural environment.

This region is home of three well known reserves around the world: Rio Largartos, a popular site for flamingo watching; Isla Contoy, the island bird sanctuary; Sian Ka'an Biosphere, covering more than a million acres of coastal jungle.
