Ferries

The easiest and most fun way to get between the mainland and neighboring islands of Isla Mujeres and Cozumel is by taking the local ferries out to the islands.

You can get to Isla Mujeres by taking the ferry from Cancun; to go to the island of Cozumel, you should take the ferry out of Playa del Carmen. These ferries are professionally operated, inexpensive and comfortable and can be a pleasant way to begin an excursion to the islands.

The ferries run every day excluding those days which have extremely bad weather and the daily schedules operate fairly punctualy so, even if your planning is tight for time, you can generally count on the schedule.

The fare for the ferry to Isla Mujeres is about $4.00 each way and the fare for the ferry to Cozumel is about $8.00 each way.
